February 25, 2023 - Colossians 2:13-15
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” Colossians 2:13-15 NLT
Jesus, we thank you for the life that you have given us through your death on the cross. You truly have brought us to life, and not just life, but life eternal. You have given us a life full of freedom, love, trust, abundant blessings, assurance, meaning, joy, peace, rest, and so much more. You are far too good to us. We praise you for all you have done to honor us. Oh, how we want to honor you with our life. We want to live in the freedom that you sacrificed yourself to purchase. You have set us free from sin and bondage. We praise you that we no longer must live under its control. You have cut away our sinful nature. You have overcome and your overcoming power lives in us. Help us rise up and live in that power. We don’t want to submit to sin and choose to allow it to control us. Teach us how to use the power you have given us to overcome our desires to give into temptation. Our greatest weapon to do this is your Word. Jesus, you set a great example for us in how to use it. You used it as a weapon, and it quickly shut down Satan’s attack on you. Teach us how to use your Word as a weapon. Help us lock it away in our hearts so we can pull it out in the moments when it is needed. Also, help us quickly recognize the attacks of the enemy so we know when to use it. Help us not to be so accustomed to living under lies that we don’t even recognize when we are walking in bondage. Help us fully live in the victory you bought us. All glory to you!
