February 24, 2025 - 1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬-‭19

“Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.” 1 Timothy 6:18-19 NLT

Lord, this is a mindset that really goes against our culture. Most of us don’t naturally have a giving mentality. We are more prone to spend all that we have or hoard what we have in case we need it. Help us change our mentality and our priorities. You are not concerned with the amount that we give, but our attitudes. You were more impressed with the widow who gave a few cents than the rich men who gave large amounts. The difference was she gave sacrificially, where their giving didn’t affect them. Show us individually how we can give of ourselves, our talents, and our resources in a way that brings honor to you. Show us how to use our lives and our money for good. We don’t want to focus on building riches in this world that will pass away, but we want our riches here on earth to be used in a way that will last into eternity.

Show us the places in our lives that we need to make changes. We never want to have the attitude of I will give more or do more when I have more money or more time. It doesn’t work that way. Show us where there is waste that can be redirected. Show us where we should make sacrifices for the sake of others. When you bless us, show us how to use that blessing not just for our good, but for the good of others. We want your blessings so that we can be a blessing. That needs to start now in whatever place we are in. Help us be generous and have a sacrificial attitude with what you have blessed us with now. Teach us how to honor you in all we have and in all we do.
