February 24, 2022 - Amos‬ ‭5:14-15a

“Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. Hate evil and love what is good; turn your courts into true halls of justice.” Amos 5:14-15a NLT

Lord, we want to run fast and hard from evil. Open our eyes to any place that we are flirting with evil even if we haven’t “crossed the line.” We don’t want to live anywhere near the place of compromise. Lord, it isn’t a matter of being strong enough to say no. It is a place of wanting to run towards you and you are the opposite direction of evil and sin. If we are hanging out right on the edge of good and evil, we can’t be running towards you. Please show us if there are any places in our lives that we have not been willing to fully turn our backs on sin and run away from it. We don’t even want to look in its directions with yearning or wonder. No, all our yearning and wonder is reserved for you and you alone. Help us to hate evil and want nothing to do with it. Help us to live our lives running toward you. Help us to make a stand for justice and what is right. We don’t want to support evil’s side of the “scale” by allowing it a place in our life. We want our lives to be fully on the good side of the justice “scale”.

Jesus, we thank you that you have shown us that this is possible. We can run from sin and overcome temptation. We have your strength and Spirit in us. You make a way for us to overcome and are walking right beside us encouraging us all the way. We praise you that you are the God of Heaven’s Armies. You command the heavenly armies, and they will always overcome evil. This army stands at my side helping me fight. How awesome is that. We praise your holy name.
