February 23, 2022 - 1 Samuel 15:10-11
“Then the Lord said to Samuel, “I am sorry that I ever made Saul king, for he has not been loyal to me and has refused to obey my command.” Samuel was so deeply moved when he heard this that he cried out to the Lord all night.” 1 Samuel 15:10-11 NLT
Lord, what a sad statement. We don’t ever want you to say that you are sorry that you ever assigned a job to us. We always want our lives to be pleasing to you. Open our eyes to the places where the enemy is trying to tempt us and pull us away from you. We realize that he is smart, and his temptations don’t start with the huge things we know are wrong, but little things that we can overlook as wrong. But small compromises lead us further and further away from you. They dull our ability to hear you and discern the truth. The further away they lead us, the easier it is to disobey and make the big compromises. Before we know it, we are so far away, living under so much shame and bondage from the enemy, it can be hard for us to break free. Lord, we praise you that you are in the freedom business but help us avoid getting in those situations. When we do find that we have strayed, please help us immediately come running back and ask for forgiveness. Get us back on track quickly.
Holy Spirit, make our hearts so sensitive to your voice. Give us a hatred for sin and disobedience. Grow our love for you so that it is our biggest desire to live to please you. Open our eyes to discern the schemes of the enemy. Remind us to put our armor on daily so we can stand up to his attacks. Help us store your Word deep in our hearts so that our shield is sturdy and ready for battle. Help us keep our hearts soft towards you and your ways. Protect us from putting up walls that will keep you out. Our hearts will always be in the safest place in your hands. We give you full access to us and live to see you glorified.
In Jesus name, amen.
