February 22, 2023 - Genesis 4:10
“And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.” Genesis 4:10 NKJV
Lord, the significance of blood I find interesting. It carries both our life and our DNA. It represents who we are. Here in this verse, you say it cries out to you. It has a voice that you hear and can identify. The blood knew that an injustice had been done and it cried out from the ground. I think of all the blood that must cry out to you from the ground. How many people die because of injustices - whether at the hand of another human or the injustice of illness. How many millions and millions of people have died without ever having the opportunity to come to know you. This is the worst injustice of all. How heartbreaking it must be to hear their cries.
Lord, blood is also what you require to pay the price for our sins. You freely shed your blood so that the price for our sins could be paid. You gave of your blood so that all men could have a personal relationship with you. Lord, we praise you for your blood and the power it contains. What an incredible thing your blood did for us. We will spend all eternity being grateful for what you have done for us. And we don’t want one soul to miss out on the opportunity to spend eternity in your presence. Help us not to get so wrapped up in living our life that we miss what really matters. We don’t want to build our own kingdom here that will pass away with nothing to show for it, but teach us how to utilize our time, resources, talents, and everything else you have given us in a way that will carry over into eternity. We can’t take things with us, but we can and must bring as many souls as possible, so their blood isn’t crying out with injustice for all eternity. Show us how to make eternal investments, so we can reward you for your shed blood. For you are worthy!
In Jesus name, amen.
