February 21, 2024 - Luke 19:2-5
“There lived a very wealthy man named Zacchaeus, who supervised all the tax collectors. He was very eager to see Jesus and kept trying to get a look at him through the massive crowd. Since Zacchaeus was a short man and couldn’t see over the heads of the people, he ran ahead of everyone and climbed up a blossoming fig tree to get a glimpse of Jesus as he passed by. When Jesus got to that place, he looked up into the tree and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry on down, for I must stay at your house today!” Luke 19:2-5 TPT
Lord, how amazing that you see us and seek us out when we are still sinners. Thank you that you never see us as below you or too sinful. Your mission is to spread your love to the lost, even if it isn’t approved of by some. We praise you for not caring what anyone thinks. Make us more like you.
Lord, let our whole worth be wrapped up in what you say of us and no one else. Help us to always live for what is pleasing to you and not worry about the opinions of others. We ask for you to give us wise mentors, with hearts after you, to speak into our lives. Help us always put a high value on listening to them, but not at the expense of not obeying you. If we ever find ourselves in a place where we feel you are asking something of us that contradicts what they say, please give us evident confirmation so we know we are doing the right thing.
Lord, we also ask that you make us like Zacchaeus in his pursuit after you. I am sure it wasn’t looked on as appropriate for a rich tax collector to climb up in trees, yet he wanted to see you so badly that he did so. Let us always be willing to go outside of social norms if it means finding more of you. Let us unashamedly love and pursue you. Lord, we want to see you. Show us more of who you are every day. Thank you so much for being a God who wants to reveal yourself to us! You are such an awesome God.
In Jesus name, amen.
