February 20, 2023 - 1 Corinthians 6:19
“Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 TPT
Lord, as I read this verse, I think of the old song Sanctuary by Randy Scruggs and John W. Thompson. It says, “Lord, prepare me to be a Sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.” What a beautiful song that we want to make our prayer today. You have made our bodies your sanctuary and we want to be a sanctuary that you can come and fully inhabit. Please show us what needs to be removed from our lives so that you can dwell in us. Prepare us and transform us into a pure and holy place. Going through a purifying process is not an easy process. It can be painful, and we must release things that we might not be happy about releasing, but if it makes us more like you, then help us embrace the purifying process. Help us be willing and quick to release anything that needs to be released. As you come in and whittle away at our lives sculpting us into who you designed us to be, help us be willing to allow you to do whatever you want to do. We trust that you, as the master craftsman, know what you are doing and have our best in mind. We can relax in your hands. Let the trials of life push us closer to you. Put us through trials and find us tried and true to you..
Lord, as we walk in holiness and commit to living in your kingdom ways, we want to do so with a grateful and thankful heart. Never let us mourn over the things we have given up or the activities we will no longer participate in. You are more valuable than anything we must lay down to find more of you. We give you our lives and invite you to come and make us your sanctuary.
In Jesus name, amen.
