February 17, 2022 - Romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10 NIV
Lord, your love is so amazing. We want to learn to love, honor, and respect people like you. Lord, especially help us learn to do this for people who we don’t like or agree with. Help us walk in grace and extend respect to people who don’t respect us back. In these situations, help us let go of our pride and be very intentional in seeing people with your eyes, not our own.
Lord, it is so easy to walk in selfishness that we often don’t even realize that we are doing it. We are just so caught up in our own world. We can get so focused on our list of “to do’s” or our problems that we don’t really see those around us. Even if all we can do is look people in the eye and offer a smile, we want to make people feel seen. When we speak to people, show us how to make them feel cared for and noticed. Even if it’s a simple, “How are you doing?” let us ask it in a way that lets them feel like we really want to know. We want to learn how to tune our discernment into hearing past just the words, to hearing what people’s spirits are saying. Give us insights and words to share with people that would make them feel loved and valued. Holy Spirit, we ask for your insight and wisdom to see and understand beyond the surface level and into the heart.
Jesus, as we read about you in the Bible, we see your words and actions really capturing people. In just a short encounter, you would radically change people’s lives. You could say, “Come and follow me” and people would drop everything to follow you. You say that we have the same power and the same love living within us. Teach us how to use it to draw more people into your presence. We want to be your hands, feet, and voice here on earth shining your love into those you place across our path throughout our day.
In Jesus name, amen.
