“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:11-13 NLT
Lord, I am so inspired by Paul’s words here. We want this to be our attitude. Forgive us for the times when we are discontent and feel like we are lacking. Forgive us for anytime that we are upset or blame you because of something we think that you should have provided. We praise you that you are the God who supplies all that we need. If we are lacking, it is because we didn’t ask, didn’t have faith, allowed sin to block our blessing, we just didn’t really need what we thought we needed, or maybe the timing isn’t right. Help us always have our heart right with you. Let us be quick to bring you our sins and ask for forgiveness when needed. Grow our faith so we can always look to you with expectancy for your provisions. Teach us to look to you as our main provider and not to ourselves or outside sources, such as a job. Also, forgive us for any time we have felt guilty or unworthy over something that you have provided for us.
Teach us to trust you as Paul did. He trusted that whatever he had or didn’t have was right for that season. Help us learn to be content in the season of lack and equally content in the seasons of abundance. Teach us the secret of fully living in every situation. We determine our attitude, and we want to always determine to have a good one regardless of the circumstances around us. We want our attitude to always reflect your glory to the world around us. We want to trust you in every situation. Give us the strength to be content and handle whatever comes our way.
In Jesus name, amen.
