December 4, 2024 - 1 Corinthians 16:7
“This time I don’t want to make just a short visit and then go right on. I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me.” 1 Corinthians 16:7 NLT
Lord, how often do we make plans and just assume that they will happen. We commit to things without asking you if it is what you have planned. Paul sets a good example here for us to follow. He tells the Corinthians that he wants to come and stay a while with them, but also is telling them that He will submit to what you want over what he wants. Help us to always look at our plans as something that you might change. Help us learn to live not so wrapped up in what we wanted and planned but have our eyes and hearts constantly open to what you might be saying to us or doing around us. We never want to miss a divine moment to have an encounter with you or help someone else have an encounter with you, because we were not paying attention to you. Forgive us for the many times we have done that. Let us always be willing to surrender our plans if you ask.
Help us learn to trust you and your plans. We want you to be the driver of our lives. Teach us to be willing to let you take us where you want without kicking you out of our driver’s seat and taking over. We want to be so comfortable and trust you so much that we won’t be the backseat driver always questioning everything you do. We want to just go along on the journey you have planned for us and enjoy the ride wherever it might take us. Let your will be done above ours always, our Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
