December 30, 2021 - 1 Peter 1:14-16
“So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”” 1 Peter 1:14-16 NLT
Yes, Lord, we choose you and obedience to you. We want to yield our own desires to your desires and ways. We ask that you open our eyes to any places where we are living in selfishness, to any places where we are putting our desires over yours. We want to be quick to repent of those areas. Please help us and give us the strength needed to break off any places where we seem stuck in a sin. Open our eyes to any strategy that we need to apply to help us in that area. Show us who you have placed in our lives who can hold us accountable to those strategies.
You have given us some clear instructions in the Bible on how to live our lives. You also have told us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We come before you today and ask that where it is not clearly marked in scripture, you would speak to us about how you want each of us to live our lives. Give us well-defined lines of right and wrong that you want each of us to live by. Lord, as we see those lines, we don't want to hand out anywhere near the wrong side. We want to turn from it and run towards you and you holiness.
Lord, we want all that you have for us. We want access to as much of you as we can handle. We don’t want to allow anything in our lives that will limit what we can have of you. Give us a stronger desire for more of you than walking in anything not pleasing to you. Let us see the benefits of walking in holiness. Help us to walk in holiness in all that we do. We don’t want to hide anything in the darkness. Bring your light into our lives and purify us. We want to be holy as you are holy.
