December 28, 2024 - Romans‬ ‭15‬:‭30b

“Do this because of your love for me, given to you by the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:30b NLT

Holy Spirit, Paul says in this verse that it is because of you that they are able to love him. I think that we can sometimes overlook the importance of you. We try to accomplish our walk in you Lord, in our own strength. We get so frustrated when we fall into the same sins and struggles again and again. We try to stir up our passion, but it eventually fizzles out. We try to stick with our prayer times and Bible reading, but we eventually find ourselves missing more and more times. We try to love people like you do, but it feels impossible. We try to forgive but can’t walk it out. We push ourselves to accomplish more and more things for you and find ourselves empty and tired, or even burned out. We try to have faith for the impossible, but we don’t see you work through us the way you say you will.

Lord, we fail at all these things because we are doing them in our own strength. Jesus, you told us that you were leaving us the Holy Spirit, and he would be our helper. Holy Spirit, teach us to invite you into every aspect of our lives every day. It is through you that we can be successful in all the things listed above. It is through you that we discover more about God and see our relationship become all that you desire it to be. We desperately need your help. Give us a greater understanding of you and your role in our lives. We want you to be a huge part of our lives. Come and deepen our relationship with you and dependency on you.
