December 28, 2021 - Luke 9:1-2
“One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:1-2 NLT
Jesus, we want to thank you for entrusting us with carrying your message. Thank you for calling us your disciples. We thank you for the power and authority that you placed within each of us. Teach us how to use it in the way you intended. Lord, we don’t want to walk in less than what you designed for each of us. Open our understanding to all that you have for us. Increase our faith and courage in stepping in your power.
We want to be like you, Jesus. We look at all the miracles that you did in the Bible. You healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out the demons, calmed the storm, walked on the water, spoke out words of knowledge and so much more. Jesus it is easy for us to say that you could do those things because you are God and not just a human. But Lord, help us not to get stuck in the excuse of not doing things like these because we are just human. You have given us your power and authority. You live within us. You want us to learn to walk out in that power like you did. You actually told us in John 14 that we would do greater works than you did. That is so hard to believe, so grow our faith to the place that we not only can believe it but are walking it out.
Lord, we want to have the faith and courage needed to go through our life radically changing the lives we encounter like you did. We want to take others “under our wings” like you did with the disciples and mentor them in your ways. We want to be purposeful in living life outside of our own self and make our lives about living to make you known. We want to tell everyone, both in words and in actions, about You and Your Kingdom. We want to heal the sick, speak truth into others’ lives, push back the territories of Satan, speak change into situations, and more. We want to live our lives in a way that we are daily expanding Your Kingdom. Teach us how to do this wholeheartedly.
