December 27, 2023 - 2 Corinthians 11:3
“But now I’m afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s clever lies, your thoughts may be corrupted and you may lose your single-hearted devotion and pure love for Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3 NLT
Lord, we ask for you to help us guard our minds. We never want to allow our thoughts to get corrupted by lies. Increase your discernment within each one of us to be able to easily know the difference between what truth is and what is meant to deceive. Satan, and those he is controlling, can be so deceiving. They can say just the right things to trick us into believing them. Lord, open our eyes to these schemes. Don’t allow him to trick us. Let us recognize the lies and manipulation right away and not fall for them. Once recognized, give us such wisdom to know how to stand against the lies and proclaim truth in a way that is honoring to you. Clearly show us when we need to take a strong stand and shout out your truth. Also, clearly show us when we just need to walk away and not get into arguments with fools. Help us keep our single-hearted devotion to you and not lose our pure hearts.
Lord, help us not just in recognizing lies told to us, but also give us a hatred for telling lies, even the small ones that don’t really matter. We don’t want to allow any lie, big or tiny, to come out of our mouth. We don’t want to exaggerate the truth to make it sound better. We don’t want to present something as truth if we are not sure that it is so. Lord, we acknowledge that there is no gray area here. Something is either true or it is not. We repent for any time we have allowed lies to come out of our mouth or knowingly gone along with/supported someone else’s lies. Let the value of truth ring true in our lives.
In Jesus name, amen.
