December 25, 2024 - Luke 2:13-17
“Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.” Luke 2:13-17 NLT
Jesus, you are the Glory of God, and you are Peace. When you were born here on earth, you brought God’s glory down to us. You brought peace to us. You brought hope, love, and so much more to us. Oh Jesus, how wonderful you are. You are the greatest gift we will ever receive. We are so grateful for you and all that you have done for us. We want to seek you like the shepherds did. We thank you that you don’t distance yourself or hide from us. You come to us. Draw us closer to you today and always. Help us be purposeful in seeking you each day. We want to invite you into our whole life. Help us live in a constant awareness of you. Open our eyes to see you. Open our ears and help us to listen for your voice. Help us be willing to lay down whatever might be required for us to find more of you. You are worth anything we need to surrender for more of you.
Lord, help us not only be like the shepherds in seeking you, but also in telling everyone about your amazing love. Let everything about the way we live proclaim your goodness to the world. Teach us how to be messengers of your Good News. Let us show your glory to everyone we encounter. Let us love you the way you have loved us.
In Jesus name, amen.
