December 24, 2022 - Galatians 4:4-5

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:4-5 ESV

Father, thank you for sending your only Son to us. What a beautiful sacrifice you willingly made for us. You allowed him to leave you and heaven, knowing everything he would face here on earth. Most parents hate to allow their children to go into something that will cause them pain and if they can stop it from happening, they likely would. This would especially be true if the parent knew the situation would lead to their child’s death. You and Jesus have a wonderful relationship that is based on perfect unity. It must have caused you so much pain to allow Jesus to leave your side and come to earth. I am certain you both missed sitting face to face with each other terribly. Yet knowing how you would miss each other’s physical presence, you both made the choice to say goodbye for a season to make a way for us to be reunited with you.

Father, not only did you willingly allow Jesus to leave knowing how you would miss him, but you knew you would also have to watch Jesus walk through injustices and pain as he lived life here on earth. You both completely knew what you were in for and what you would have to do, yet you willingly chose to come and endure for us. You wanted to adopt us as your own, and through your sacrifices you made it possible. We praise you for all you endured. We praise you for the hard choices that you made for us. We praise you for your willingness to endure pain, rejection, humiliation, betrayal, injustice, and death to show us how much you love us. We are so grateful for your sacrifices. We praise you for how you love us. This Christmas season, let us remember the beautiful gift you have given to us and what it cost you.

In Jesus name, amen.
