December 23, 2022 - Zechariah 9:9

“Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt." Zechariah 9:9 NKJV

Jesus, our King, all praise be to you. Let all the earth praise your holy name. Let us rejoice and shout your praises for you are worthy. We praise you for being righteous. Nothing compares to your holiness. What an honor it is to call you our King. We praise you for how you love and care for us. Thank you for laying down so much to come to earth to pay our ransom. We will not fully understand the price that you paid for us until we get to heaven. But we know that the price was high, and you willingly paid it so we could be restored to you. We thank you that you long to have a relationship with us. Thank you that we don’t have to earn a relationship with you, but it is freely given.

Jesus, we also praise you for being a humble and approachable God. You are all powerful and victorious, yet you choose to be humble. What strength that takes. You didn’t come to earth like people expected. People expected you to come to earth and present yourself like a King. They wanted you to establish your kingdom here on earth and make their lives better. You did come and make our lives so much better, but it wasn’t as they expected. How often do we totally miss you because you don’t do things like we want or expect. We totally miss the blessing because it doesn’t fit in our “mold”. Jesus, we don’t want to put you in a box and only “allow” you to work how we think that you should. Help us open our eyes to see you in the unexpected places and ways all around us. Help us adjust our expectations and eliminate our “boxes”. Let us accept and worship you even if you come riding in on a donkey. For you are fully worthy, even on a donkey.

In Jesus name, amen.
