“And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.”
Luke 1:46-47 NKJV
Lord, I love this prayer from Mary. The use of that word magnifies – to take something and make it look larger than it originally looked. Mary was saying that she chose to magnify you. Lord, help us adapt this principle. When we look around us, like Mary probably was at that moment, and life just feels out of control help us choose to magnify you. When you asked her to lay down her dream of what she wanted out of her life for the plans you had for her, she chose to magnify you. When the plans you sent her to accomplish probably seemed larger than what she could accomplish, she chose to magnify you. She chose to declare that you were bigger than what she might have felt you to be in her life at that moment.
Lord, remind us to always choose to magnify you in our lives. Anytime we focus on and magnify the circumstances instead of you then we allow our perspective to get skewed. When life feels bigger than you, we will choose to refocus on you. Because Lord, we know that you are big enough and powerful enough to handle anything that we face. It is only that we lose Heaven’s perspective when we can’t clearly see or feel that truth. By choosing to magnify you, we are only refocusing our vision to see Heaven’s reality. We are declaring the truth even when we might not feel it.
Right now, we take a moment and anything that we are facing that is overwhelming, we magnify you over it. We declare that you are big enough. We praise you for having things under control. We praise you for being almighty and all-knowing. We declare that we know that you have us in the palm of your hand. We are not forgotten. We rejoice in all that you are doing in our lives, even if we don’t understand it. We praise you for where you are taking us, even if it is a place that makes us uneasy. We declare that we trust you. We declare that you have everything fully under control. We praise you through every season and every part of the journey! For you are worthy.
In Jesus name, amen.
