“There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.”” Luke 22:40 NLT
Lord, we come before you today and ask that you strengthen us against temptation. We want to live pure and holy lives before you. We want to live in a way that we can see your face and have all that you have for us. We want those promises to be released in our lives. Teach us your tactics to overcome temptation, especially those temptations we think we will never overcome.
Show us our weaknesses and how we can specifically guard against them. Remind us to stop and pray for your strength when we are faced with temptations. Holy Spirit, we invite you to come and open our eyes when we are starting to go down a road that we should not go down. Give us early warning signs so we can turn and run before the temptation can even get its hold in us. We want to set our boundaries high so as to stay far from temptation. Show us any places where we are walking too closely to the “borders” and setting ourselves up for failure. Help us to run from the boundaries and towards you.
Help grow us stronger so that things that tempt us today are nothing tomorrow. Continue to open our eyes to the next thing that Satan will bring along to trip us up. Help us not to allow pride to cause us to stumble, by thinking that we can handle more than we should. Help each of us work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We want to live our life in the way that you are calling each one of us to. We want to set our boundaries where you tell us to, regardless of where our friends have theirs set. We want to live to bring glory to your name in all we do. We want to live a life that will purely reflect you to the world around us. Holy Spirit, come and lead us in doing these things.
In Jesus name, amen.
