December 17, 2021 - Psalms 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” Psalms 28:7 NLT
Lord, we thank you so much that you are our strength and our shield. Thank you for holding us up. You give us strength when we are lacking. Through you we can accomplish way more than we could accomplish on our own. We thank you for your protection. You are a shield around us. Thank you for how you often fight our battles for us. We will likely be shocked when we get to heaven and learn of all the things that you protected us from or things you kept us from fighting that we didn’t even know about here on earth. Even things we “think we did on our own” we will likely be surprised to find out how much you were doing behind the scenes to make what we did successful for us. We are so grateful for all you do for us, for your strength, and your protection over our lives.
Lord, we declare that you are trustworthy. We never ever have to doubt you or your ability. You will always be there for us. Help us learn this on even deeper levels. Work with us in areas where our trust is lacking and teach us to trust you wholeheartedly.
We thank you for how you fill us with your joy. Let it bubble up out of us like a never-ending spring of water. Let it refresh not only us but everyone we encounter. We ask that you teach us how to live in such a place with you that joy is something that always flows out of us naturally. We want to be people who shine for you and brighten up a room when we come in. We want people to see us as a breath of fresh air that draws others to us and thus to you. Let your songs of praise be ever on our lips. Let us wake up in the morning singing them and go to bed doing the same. Again, let them just continually pour out of the core of who we are, even in the hard seasons. Lord, come and fill us up to overflowing.
