December 16, 2024 - Mark 8:17-21
“Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. “Don’t you understand yet?” he asked them.” Mark 8:17-21 NLT
Lord, how often do we find ourselves in a place of panic or doubt because of our situations? Probably more often than we want to admit. Here we see the disciples worked up about where to find bread to eat. Yet, you were right there with them. They had seen you take a handful of food and use it to provide food for thousands of people, twice. They knew firsthand what you were capable of and yet they were stressing over food yet again. Lord, we do the same thing. Forgive us of this. Grow our faith in your willingness and ability to sort out the situations we find ourselves in.
Lord, show us ways that we can keep account of what you have done in our lives. When we have seen you come through for us, press us to share with others your works in our lives. This will help lock it in our memory. Maybe we need to write your miracles down so we can go and look over them when we are in need of a faith boost. When we find ourselves in one of those moments of stress, remind us of things you have done. Help us learn to stir up our faith when needed and not allow doubt to reign in us. We have no reason to stress or doubt you. You are faithful and able. How wonderful!
In Jesus name, amen.
