December 15, 2023 - 2 Timothy 2:23-25
“Stay away from all the foolish arguments of the immature, for these disputes will only generate more conflict. For a true servant of our Lord Jesus will not be argumentative but gentle toward all and skilled in helping others see the truth, having great patience toward the immature. Then with meekness you’ll be able to carefully enlighten those who argue with you so they can see God’s gracious gift of repentance and be brought to the truth.” 2 Timothy 2:23-25 TPT
Lord, there are so many strong viewpoints in our world today. We want to be led by you in choosing our beliefs. Open our eyes to how you see things so that we are not deceived by lies or swayed by popular opinions that are not your ways. Give us such wisdom on how to stand for your ways. Help us not to be argumentative or quick to quarrel. Help us discern the hearts of the people, so we know who has a heart to hear. If they aren’t ready to hear, trying to talk to them about truth may only generate more conflict.
Lord, we want to be gentle and help others see the truth while having patience. Show us how to deescalate situations and not pour gasoline on a fire. Give us patience and help us to be humble and meek. We don’t want to be prideful in having to prove we are right. Help us remember it is not our job to make people accept the truth, but to present the truth in an honoring and loving way. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to work on people’s hearts to accept the truth. Help us to be satisfied in doing our job well and trusting you to do the rest. Give us your skills to present the truth, and let your truth shine bright through us for all to see.
In Jesus name, amen.
