“But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!” Romans 5:8 TPT

Father, we thank you for how you love us. You truly do love us passionately. Your love for us is not dependent on how good we are or how well our performance is. You know our heart inside and out. You know our every thought. You know and understand the motives behind our every action, even when we don’t understand or recognize them. If your love was based on us being good enough, we would never measure up. We thank you that you love us unconditionally. Thank you for sending your son to earth to die for us while we were still sinners. Jesus, thank you for dying for humanity, knowing that some of the people that you died for would never choose to love you back.

Your love for us truly is amazing. Help us understand it more and more. Open our eyes and hearts to how you always hold us near and treasure us. You call us your beloved. We are so deeply loved by you. Burn this into us. Let it drive out all our insecurities and fears. Let us feel it. Let it dig in past our defenses. Let your love undo us. Help us see how you look at us as a proud parent. You are not ashamed of us. Show us how you see us.

Lord, help us learn how to live freely in your love as the person you made us to be. We want to get past trying to perform for you or trying to earn your love. We want to live in the full knowledge and understanding of how freely you love us. As we do that, grow our love for you. Help us learn to love you back in the same way you love us. Help us live our lives in a way that brings you glory, not out of obligation but out of our love for you.

In Jesus name, amen.
