August 9, 2023 - Psalms 37:3

“Trust in the Lord and do good; Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness.” Psalms 37:3 NASB

Our trustworthy God, we praise you that you are upright and honorable. You always do what is just and right. Your faithfulness is unending. Your love for us is perfect, unconditional, pure, and bountiful. We praise you that it contains no selfishness. When all that you want is to see us fulfilled and flourishing, why would we ever doubt you? When nothing can defeat you, why do we not fully trust you? When you work all things together for our good, how can we hesitate to follow you wholeheartedly? Lord, we sadly choose to put our selfishness and our desires over you. We think that we know better. Please forgive us. Renew our minds and help us change these patterns of thinking. Help us learn to completely put our trust in you. Help us learn to make passionately loving you the highest priority in our lives. Help us learn to devote our lives to walking in obedience to all your ways. We want our lives to be a pure reflection of you to the world around us.

Lord, we want to learn to dwell in your land. We want to fully live in your kingdom ways. Open our eyes to the places where we are thinking in the ways of our world and not your kingdom. Show us any place where the culture of our world has influenced our thoughts, our attitudes, or our actions. Even though we still physically live in this world, help us not to allow it to influence us, but show us how to stand strong in your ways. Let our lives be an influence into our world that draws it closer to you. Cultivate your ways in us. Uproot the stones and weeds that are not of you. Come into our lives and be the faithful farmer who cultivates his farm into something that is flourishing and provides nourishment to many. Let our lives be an abounding fruitful source of your nourishment to the world around us.
