August 7, 2024 - Hebrews 6:16-18
“It is very common for people to swear an oath by something greater than themselves, for the oath will confirm their statements and end all dispute. So in the same way, God wanted to end all doubt and confirm it even more forcefully to those who would inherit his promises. His purpose was unchangeable, so God added his vow to the promise. So it is impossible for God to lie for we know that his promise and his vow will never change!” Hebrews 6:16-18 TPT
Lord, we praise you for how solid your promises are. We can always count on them. With no doubt, we can put our trust in all that you say. We praise you that you can’t lie. The vows that you made to us will never change. How wonderful! You are such an amazing God. Your Word is full of promises to us. Help us increase our faith and believe what you say to us.
Lord, we also realize that a lot of your promises come with contingencies. You tell us that if we do something then you will do something. It can be easy for us to just focus on what you say you will do and then get disappointed or lose faith in you when it doesn’t happen. But what we failed to do was hold up our end of the “if”. Help us to get into your Word and know what it is saying. Help us to live our end of things. We praise you that you don’t leave us alone to figure out how to do our end. You are such an amazing God who walks with us. You strengthen us. You lead us. You speak to us and give us your insights. You help us and make it possible for us to do what you ask of us. And when we mess up, you offer us forgiveness and help us try again. Praise you for your faithfulness and astounding goodness to us.
In Jesus name, amen.
