“Surrender your anxiety. Be still and realize that I am God.” Psalms 46:10a TPT
Lord, thank you that you are not blind to the storms that rage in each of our worlds - both those that are visible to the eye and those that are hidden in our heart. You are always faithful and present. You don’t miss anything that is happening in our lives. We can put our trust in that fact. Help us learn to rest and be still in your safety. Thank you that as we learn to rest in your refuge, you will fill us with your peace and healing strength.
When we look around us and what seems permanent begins to crumble; when we find ourselves surrounded by devastation; when we seem to forget who you say we are - turn our face towards you and help us remember the joy you have set before us. Lord, help us to let go of fear and doubt. Regardless of the storms raging around us, make us lay down in green pastures, lead us beside still waters, and refresh our souls.
We so often hurry from task to task, from crisis to crisis, carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Lord, today we give it all to you. All the things that are weighing us down, we place them at your feet. Help us learn to leave them there. They are no longer ours to worry about. We trust you with them. We thank you that you can carry and fix our worries so much better than we can. Thank you that you want to carry our burdens.
Let us lay down what keeps us too busy to be still, so that we take the time to lift our eyes to see your face. Pour your peace over us. Help us remember all the times that you have come through for us and all the impossible things that you have accomplished. Help us remember how faithful you have been. As we remind ourselves of all those things, let us put our trust back in you and find rest.
In Jesus name, amen.
