August 5, 2022 - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 NLT

Lord, we praise you for the gift of your salvation. We would be doomed without it. Christ, we praise you for making a way for us. We are so grateful. We thank you that you have included us in your mission to reconcile the world to you. What an honor and a privilege to be a part of such a great task. You have called us all to something so great and we don’t want to ignore this calling. We want to rise up to the task and give our all to it. Help us not to get to wrapped up in living our own lives that we hardly think about the mission that you have given us. Speak to each of us personally and show us what our main part in this mission is. We also ask that daily, minute by minute, you would help us open our eyes to see the world around us. Let your spirit guide us and tune us in more to your moving. Let us see the people we interact with through your eyes. Speak to us about what we can say or do that would allow them to see you in us.

Lord, help us to be the salt that makes them thirst for more of you. We want to live our lives so that we stand out as different in our culture. We don’t want to be Christians that blend in with the lost. Let us be a light in the darkness that those lost in the darkness can look at our lives and see a way out. Help us live in such a way that we are purposefully adapting our life to fit into your Mission. We don’t want your Mission to be just another one of the many things that gets added to our wishful to do list, where we on occasion fit it in somewhere. Give us your heart for the lost.

In Jesus name, amen.
