August 31, 2024 - Mark‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭24‬, ‭35‬-‭36

“Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, pleading fervently with him. “My little daughter is dying,” he said. “Please come and lay your hands on her; heal her so she can live.” Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around him…messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”” Mark 5:22-24, 35-36 NLT

Oh, Jesus, make us people of faith. Help us to always bring our problems, big or small, to you and trust that you can resolve them. Help us to stand and believe you even when everything in the natural tells us not to believe. Lord, we want to always stand in faith and choose to believe. When the messengers showed up and told them that the daughter was dead, Jesus could have said, “I am sorry. We are too late.” But he didn’t; he walked in faith and believed in the power that was within him. Jesus, you told us that we have that same power within us. You also told us that we would do greater things than you. That means that if you could take a dead girl and bring her back to life, we can too. How many miracles do we miss in our lives because we don’t stand in faith? How many times do we get a negative report and choose to accept it and stop believing? Lord, forgive us. Grow our faith and make us more like you. Help us to step out and trust you to do the impossible through us.

In Jesus name, amen.
