August 31, 2022 - Exodus 3:7-11
“Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey...Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”” Exodus 3:7-11 NLT
Lord, it is so amazing how you see us. You see every detail of our lives. You see every injustice that is done to us, and it breaks your heart. You want nothing more than to see us flourishing in our promised land. But you allow us to go through trials because they grow us and strengthen us. You use them to mold us into the people that you need us to be. Lord, we don’t want to be like the Israelites that were constantly walking away and forgetting you. You allowed them to sit in slavery and be mistreated so that they would come to a place of crying out to you. We want to come to you willingly. Help us live our lives in your presence with yielded spirits that you can easily mold as needed. When you ask us to do something, help us immediately obey regardless of what you ask. We don’t want to be like Moses, walking in reluctant obedience and questioning you. We know you don’t mind questions from us, especially if they are based on getting clarity. Show us though when our questions are based out of doubt or lack of trust in you or in your ability to use us. Make us into world-changers who lead the lost into your promised land. All for your glory.
In Jesus name, amen.
