August 30, 2024 - Ruth 2:10-12
“Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” she asked. “I am only a foreigner.” “Yes, I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers. May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.”” Ruth 2:10-12 NLT
Lord, we praise you for how you are our redeemer. We praise you for how we see you throughout the Bible. We see you in this story of Ruth and Boaz. You offer us such love and acceptance when we have done nothing to deserve it. You reward us for the small number of things that we have done right, even when there are far more reasons why we don’t deserve to be rewarded. We praise you for how you choose to look at us. We praise you for seeing who you created us to be. You see the potential and not our current state. We choose to see and celebrate the one small step we took forward and not the fact that we fell down right afterwards. You pick us up, dust us off, and encourage us to try again. You are the most loving Father we could ever have. We praise you for how you hide us under your wings and give us refuge. Help us to always run to your refuge and not from it, especially when we do fall down.
In Jesus name, amen.
