August 26, 2024 - Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭16‬-‭19

“The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you. But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine.” Psalms 33:16-19 NLT

Lord, there is such truth in this verse, yet we find ourselves time and time again trying to rely on our own strength or in the strength of man. Why are we so hard-headed in this, Lord? We constantly turn to rely on our own wisdom when we have Wisdom Himself available to us. We push forward trying to conquer life in our own strength when we have the All-Powerful, Almighty God who longs to help us. Forgive us, Lord. We ask for you to grow us and make us quick to put our trust in you. We praise you for watching over us. You have our backs like no one else will ever be able to. We praise you for how you rescue us time and time again. You provide for all our needs. You tell us all we have to do is ask and you will give us your abundant wisdom. You don’t expect us to do things on our own. You want to help and support us through all of life. Help us silence the lies that would tell us otherwise. Help us every day, even minute to minute, put our lives in your hands and our trust in you. Help us learn to have a reverential fear of you and rely on your unfailing love.

In Jesus name, amen.
