August 26, 2023 - Psalms 101:7-8
There’s no room in my home for hypocrites, for I can’t stand chronic liars who flatter and deceive. At each and every sunrise I will awake to do what’s right and put to silence those who love wickedness, freeing God’s people from their evil grip. Lord, help us learn how to guard our hearts and minds, and the hearts and minds of the people we are responsible for. Show us how to quickly recognize any wolves disguised as sheep within our inner circles. Open our eyes and help us not to be deceived. Help us see who we are allowing to influence us. Make the hypocrites, the liars, the arrogant, the deceivers, so obvious to us. Help us know how to eliminate them from a place of influence in our lives so they can’t affect us or those around us in a negative way. Free us from the grip of people who mean us harm, those who try to tear us down so they can be built up. Never let us behave like that. Show us how to love ourselves and others the way you love. Show us how to lead and shepherd those we are responsible for like you do, Lord. Grow us and help us silence the voices in our heads that are not of you. Show us how to recognize the voices that still have a negative place in our minds, even after we have eliminated the person who did the actual speaking. Teach us how to recognize and silence the lies that we fight in our minds.
Lord, we love you with all we are. We want to wake up with every sunrise and live that day to honor you in all we do. Show us how to do that. Make us great shepherds. We thank you for being an amazing shepherd. You are a perfect example to learn from. Thank you for all you do to guard and protect us. You are so awesome to us, Jesus.
