The Battle – Prayer #10
“Then one of the crowd…said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And often he [the evil spirit] has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” He [Jesus] rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”” Mark 9:17, 22-23, 25, 28-29 NKJV
Lord, you are the all-powerful God. Nothing can stand against you. Just like the darkness is overcome the second the light appears; evil cannot stay when your presence appears. Satan and all his demons must submit to you and your authority. What an honor to serve the God of all-authority! We worship you, for you are worthy. We praise you that you, the God-over-all, love and care about us. You know all of the flaws and failures, yet you still call us your sons and daughters. When we surrender to your Lordship, you have placed your authority in us. The power that is in you that drives out evil and darkness, resides in us. Wow.
Lord, we ask that you teach us how to walk in that authority and power. We want to spend time in your presence and walk so closely to you that we immediately know the sound of your breath. Show us the importance that intimately knowing you plays in walking in your power. Show us the place that fasting and personal sacrifice plays in us walking in your authority. Help us grow in our willingness to lay aside whatever it takes to press into knowing you and becoming the warrior you are calling us to be.
In Jesus name, amen.
