The Battle – Prayer #7
“And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION,” Ephesians 6:17a AMP
Lord, we thank you for the Helmet of Salvation. What a gift salvation is! The Helmet of Salvation protects not just our head but our souls from spiritual death. The head represents who we are. Jesus, we thank you that you are our salvation. In essence we are wrapping ourselves in you. What a beautiful picture.
Lord, when we asked you to be Lord of our lives, you gave us the gift of salvation. Salvation is now ours, and I don’t believe that we need to put it on every day to make it work, but in Phil 2:12 it tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. What is our individual salvation supposed to look like? What are you asking of us specifically as we make you the Lord of our lives? This also might look different from season to season. Lord, we want to ask you today, what are you asking of us? We want to say, “Yes, Lord” to whatever it is.
Lord, we don’t need to “put on” salvation each day, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t take the time daily to “put on” our helmet. Each day we should remind ourselves that through salvation we are sons and daughters of the King. We can often forget the identity and hope that it gives us. Lord, as we mentally put on our helmet, let us remember the promises you have made to us. If we are dealing with any doubts about who you are or who you say we are, remind us. If Satan can get into our thoughts and change the way we view you or ourselves, he can steal so much from us. When he sells us lies, they can keep us walking in defeat and passivity making us utterly useless for your Kingdom. We must guard our thoughts by making sure they line up with Biblical truth. Show us how to effectively put on our helmet and guard our thoughts. We also ask for you to fill our minds with your ideas, wisdom, strategy, and creativity.
In Jesus name, amen.
