August 20, 2024 - Galatians 2:11-12
“But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.” Galatians 2:11-12 NLT
Lord, it is so easy for us to be swayed by what people think of us. Forgive us for this. Grow our confidence in who you say we are. Ground us deeply in you and give us an overwhelming desire to walk in obedience to what you are telling us. Help us to overcome the fear of man in our lives. Help us to be who you have called us to be regardless of what people will say or think about us.
Your Word tells us that perfect love casts out all fear. Shower your love over us and allow it to transform us. Let us know, that we know, that we know who you say we are to the core of our being. Let it grow our confidence and drive out any fear of man from us. Let us walk in who you have called us to be no matter who we are around. If we need to change our actions so we don’t cause others to stumble, give us the wisdom to do so, but let it be out of your guidance, and not out of fear. We want our desire to obey you and bring you glory to always overcome any desire to please man. Help us live for your glory and not to glorify ourselves or man.
In Jesus name, amen.
