August 20, 2022 - Ephesians 6:16
The Battle – Prayer #6
“Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16 AMP
Lord, help us to learn to pick up our Shield of Faith daily and use it to block the flaming arrows the enemy is shooting at us. He shoots all kinds of things at us to distract us, to hurt us, cause us to doubt, to cause us to stumble or even walk away from you. We thank you for giving us something to block those attacks. Sometimes when we get hit by one of Satan’s arrows, we can be quick to want to ask you why you let that happen to us. I wonder though how many of those times it was our fault because we were not actively or effectively using the shield that you have given us? If this is the case, please forgive us. Teach us what it means to use faith as a shield. Help us learn to use our Shield of Faith effectively to block the arrows of the enemy’s attacks.
We don’t want to be content to just sit back and protect ourselves, but we want to take forward action in this battle. Show us how to use our Shield of Faith to push back the enemy’s advancement. We want to take back the ground that he has stolen. We want to win the souls to you that he is trying to destroy. Help us learn to pray prayers of great faith and see those prayers answered.
When our faith is struggling and doubt is creeping in, help us remember who you are and who you call us. Help us remember how faithful you are to us. The shield is not something that we really wear, but it is something that we hold. Daily, we must remember to pick it up and hold on to it. Faith doesn’t come naturally; we must choose to walk in it. To stand with faith, we must get in your Word and know what it says. Help us desire to dig in deeper in your Word and bury it deep in our hearts, so it is there when we need it.
