The Battle – Prayer #4

“…HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (an upright heart),” Ephesians 6:14c AMP

Lord, today we want to look at the Breastplate of Righteousness. Teach us more about this piece of armor and how to put it on every day. This piece of armor guards our hearts and other vital organs. Putting on the Breastplate of Righteousness, means to guard our hearts. You tell us in Proverbs 4:23 to guard our hearts for everything we do flows through it. Guarding our hearts must be an intentional action. We must make a choice to live a righteous life. We must choose to spend time in your Word and your presence.

When our Breastplate of Righteousness is secured in place with our Belt of Truth it will help us recognize the attacks of the enemy to get us off the path of righteousness. Righteousness isn’t something we will just stumble into; we must learn to avoid the things that personally will trigger us to “fall” into sin. Help us identify those things and be very purposeful in removing them from our lives. We must identify the lies that we easily fall into believing and be proactive in making sure we fill ourselves with your truth in that area. Show us those places in our lives that we are more susceptible to lies and how to guard our hearts from believing them.

Lord, your Word says that no one is righteous, but you make a way for us to be righteous. Let us pursue righteousness in all we do. We want to hunger and thirst after it. Help us learn to press into you when temptation comes. Give us the wisdom and strength to overcome. No matter what the temptation is offering, it is nothing compared to you. We thank you for the gift of righteousness. We thank you that you have made a way for us to walk in it. We want to be intentional in our walk with you and put on our Breastplate of Righteousness every day.

In Jesus name, amen.
