August 17, 2024 - Galatians 2:19-21
“For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” Galatians 2:19-21 NLT
Jesus, we praise you for coming to earth and dying for us. There are so many things that your death did for us and set us free from. We praise you that it set us free from the law. Give us a greater understanding of what that means in our lives. We praise you that we are not in bondage to the law. It can’t control us. Lord, we would never be able to keep your law perfectly. If we live to try and do that it does condemn us. We praise you that because of your death, we don’t have to live perfectly. Your death sets us free from that. We praise you for your grace that covers up our sin. But that doesn’t mean that we can live how we want. Help us not to abuse your grace. If we truly love you, we will want to live to please you and bring you glory. We won’t want to walk in sin. Help us not to live with a checklist of do’s and don’ts but live out of love for you. Come and live in us. Transform us to be more like you. Help us to live for you and when we mess up, be quick to come and make it right with you. We praise you for making that possible.
In Jesus name, amen.
