The Battle – Prayer #3

Lord, today we put on the Belt of Truth. Teach us what it means to wear this piece of armor. Help us understand how we are to apply it to our lives and wear it every day. Jesus, you told us that you are the way, the truth, and the life. You are the truth that we are wrapping around us. You surround us like a belt.
The belt is what holds our weapon. Without it we can’t carry our sword, which is your Word. Your truth is what allows us to fight effectively. We must be grounded in your truth. It’s our foundation. It’s by staying in your Word and holding it close that we can begin to clearly distinguish between what is truth and lies. Open our eyes to new revelations in your Word. Reveal to us how the truth applies to our lives, as well as any lies that we are believing. If what we are seeing, feeling, thinking, or doing doesn’t line up with your truth, help us uproot those things from our life – especially if we are believing the lie because the truth makes us uncomfortable or allows us to justify our sin. Increase our intolerance for this in our life. Let the thought of not uprooting lies and making them right make us feel sick. We want to be fully grounded in your truth. It’s your truth that sets us free, and we want to fully walk in that freedom.
We want it to be our compass that directs our every step. We want our personal integrity to be based on the truth of your Word. Teach us how to walk in your truth and to allow it to guide our every step. We want to be deeply rooted in your truth so that we can easily recognize and repel the lies that the enemy will shoot our way. If we can’t see them as lies, we won’t know how to use our shield to block them. We thank you for the Belt of Truth and the power it holds.
