August 15, 2024 - Ezekiel 8:6
““Son of man,” he said, “do you see what they are doing? Do you see the detestable sins the people of Israel are committing to drive me from my Temple?”” Ezekiel 8:6 NLT
Lord, in Ezekiel, the Israelites had turned your temple into a place of sin instead of the place where you reside. They drove you from your temple. Jesus, we praise you that through your death we no longer have to go to the temple to find your presence. When we come to you for salvation, our bodies become your temple. We can approach you freely. But just like the Israelites, when we bring sin into your temple we drive you from it. We praise you for your forgiveness. Through your blood we can be washed clean and made holy again.
Lord, we ask for you to make us people who hate sin and run as far from it as possible. In those times when we do find ourselves sinning, help us be quick to come to you, ask forgiveness, and make things right. We never want to do anything that would drive your presence away from us. Lord, we want more of your presence in our lives. We want all that you have for us. Purify us and take us deeper in you.
In Jesus name, amen.
