August 14, 2022 - Ecclesiastes‬ ‭10:1-2‬

“As dead flies cause even a bottle of perfume to stink, so a little foolishness spoils great wisdom and honor. A wise person chooses the right road; a fool takes the wrong one.” Ecclesiastes 10:1-2 NLT

Lord, we want to be people of wisdom and not foolishness. Please shower down more of your wisdom over us. Holy Spirit, guide our every step and give us your insight. If we are starting to act like a fool, please make that clear to us. Open our eyes to the areas of our lives that we are not yielding to or applying your wisdom to. Show us the places that we are continuing to try to do things on our own. I feel like there are so many areas that I get stubborn in and don’t want to turn over to you, so many areas I act like I know better. Probably more than I even realize. Show us where we are blinded to our own foolishness. Help us learn to trust and yield to you.

We want to be a wonderful fragrance whose scent draws people to you. We don’t want anything in us to be like the smell of something rotting. We can have that wonderful fragrance, and yet let a little foolishness ruin it all. What a waste that would be. We don’t want to harbor even the smallest of foolishness in our lives. We want to always choose you and your ways. Give us your wisdom to hear and understand your voice. Make our path clear. We always want to choose the right road, even if it is the narrow path that isn’t well traveled. Even if in man’s eyes the path we choose looks foolish, we want to follow your wisdom and not the wisdom of man. What matters is that we are considered wise and not foolish in your eyes, Lord. Please guard us and help keep us on in the ways of your wisdom. Let our lives glorify you in all we do.

In Jesus name, amen.
