“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 NLT
Lord, we want to be known as people of peace. The kind of people others want to be around because it is peaceful to be in our presence. We want your peace to always flow out of us. There are so many feelings that we can be experiencing such as moments that are busy, stressful, exciting, fun, sad, heart wrenching, that we would not typically express with peace. We often think of peace as a moment that is quiet and calm. But your peace is more than just a place of quiet and calm. It can be experienced in all the above moments. Jesus, as you walked the journey to the cross, we can see the peace shining through you even as you experience all kinds of agony. That is the kind of peace we want to bring with us. Teach us how to be at rest even in the crazy moments of life.
Holy Spirit, help us in this mission. Remind us that regardless of what things look or feel like, we can be at rest in you. Bring to mind Bible verses that we have stored in our hearts that speak truth over us when we need it. Give us insight on what to say or do that will bring your peace to others when needed. We can see how you led Jesus in this. He knew how to respond to quiet a restless crowd or to end the Pharisees’ attempts to bring discord and discredit him. He could bring peace where they meant to stir up trouble. Lead us the way you did him. Help us learn to take the time to listen and tune into your voice as you speak to us.
We thank you that you are our peace, and you are with us no matter what we face. We are grateful that even when we go through times in life that bring a variety of extreme emotions, we can still have peace in our souls. Thank you for never leaving us.
In Jesus name, amen.
