April 5, 2022 - John 1:47-48
“As they approached, Jesus said, “Now here is a genuine son of Israel—a man of complete integrity.” “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”” John 1:47-48 NLT
Jesus, we would love for you to approach us and say of us that we are people of complete integrity. You see everything about us. There is nothing hidden from you. Even with seeing everything, you still said that Nathanael had complete integrity. That is a huge compliment. We want to live our lives like Nathanael. Would you open our eyes to the places that we are not living in full integrity? The places where maybe we have let things “slide under the rug” and hope they are not found. Show us where we cut corners when no one is looking. Convict us of these things. We want to ask forgiveness for whatever they are and bring them into the full light. Lord, help us make them right with you and if necessary, others. Grow us into people of complete integrity who represent you well in all we do.
Lord, we do praise you that you see everything. Even before we knew of you, you saw us and pursued us. Thank you that even when we are not aware of it, you are working on our behalf. We praise you for how you know everything about us. I am sure that Nathanael wasn’t a perfect human and had made mistakes. I love how your first thing was to focus on the good in him. We praise you for how you choose to see the good in us and point it out. There are times for correction and discipline, but you start with love. How wonderful. This shows us something beautiful about your character. Help us see and point out the good in others like you do. We want to focus on the good of others and not only the shortcomings. Make us more like you, Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
