“I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.” Exodus 29:45-46 ESV
Lord, it is incredible that you, the God who created all the universe, want to dwell with humans. You created this beautiful planet, Earth, especially for us to dwell with you. What we seem to do best is choose things opposite of you and cause so much destruction to the beauty you created. We bring you so much hurt and pain, yet your love for us reaches beyond the hurt we cause you, past the disarray we create, and makes a way for us to walk with you. We could never begin to be worthy of your perfect, unconditional love, but you pour it out freely. You come time and time again to save us out of the messes we find ourselves in. You redeem us, clean us up, and invite us to dine with you. You long to be our God and Father.
We praise you that you rescued the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and then you created a system for their unholiness to be covered so that you could dwell in their presence. Then you brought them into the Promised Land. But that was just a temporary fix. We praise you for sending your son to shed his pure blood to perfectly and completely pay for our sin. You made a way for us to be holy, so that now we can individually have a personal relationship with you. Just wow! The great lengths you go through to dwell with us and pour your love over us are amazing. You are unbelievably remarkable. We can never thank you enough. We declare you our worthy God. We have an even greater promised land of heaven coming. How wonderful that we get to spend all eternity there worshiping you for your goodness!
In Jesus name, amen.
