April 3, 2024 - Deuteronomy 5:32-33
“So Moses told the people, “You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail. Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.” Deuteronomy 5:32-33 NLT
Lord, we thank you that you have given us instructions to follow. You have told us what is right and what is wrong. You are not a God that expects us to figure out what it means to live a righteous life. You have laid out a path that will lead us away from wrong and towards righteousness, towards you. It might not be easy for us to walk, but you are there to lead us and help us in the journey. You love us so much. We thank you for your instructions. We thank you for Holy Spirit who walks with us and supports us. We thank you for your forgiveness when we do wander off the path of righteousness. How incredible that you paid the punishment for our sin, and we can bring our sin to you with repentant hearts and see you wash it away.
Lord, you are truly an amazing God. We want to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to you. Help us align our lives to your ways. Holy Spirit, please work in us and help us learn to walk the path of righteousness. We want to follow your commands. More than just your commands, we want to live to bring you joy! We want to run from sin and not flirt with it and see how far we can go without “crossing the sin line”. Lead us. Purify us. Uproot out of our lives any sinful habits, untruthful beliefs, or negative behaviors that don’t bring you glory. Lord, we want to be obedient because you are worthy of it, but we thank you for how you reward us when we live like that. You are such a good God to us. We praise you for how you want us to live long and prosperous lives in your wonderful promises.
In Jesus name, amen.
