April 28, 2022 - Luke 1:38
“Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.” Luke 1:38 NLT
Lord, how often in life do we have more questions than answers. Maybe we don’t understand why we are in the situations we find ourselves in. Maybe we have no idea what the future holds and where you are taking us. Maybe we have promises from you about our future, but we can even begin to see or understand how you will get us to those promises. Maybe we don’t understand why you allowed something to happen in our lives or in the lives of our loved ones. Maybe we know what you have called us to do, but we don’t know how to accomplish that calling. Sometimes we feel like we can come into your presence with nothing but questions.
Lord, I know you don’t mind our questions, but we want to make sure that we are not allowing the unknown to hold us back. I look at Mary in this passage of scripture. An angel showed up and tells her she is going to give birth to the Messiah that they have been promised. She asks one question about how she will get pregnant, to which she gets an answer. Then she responds with verve 38. Wow. What trust she has in you. I am sure she had a million questions. I am sure as she starts to think through how this could possibly play out and the radical changes this was going to bring into her life, more and more questions appeared. Yet, her response was, “I am your servant. Your will be done.” What trust she had in you. Lord, as we walk through life lacking the answers, let us continue to move forward with you in that kind of trust. We never want to let lack of understand or the fear of the unknown stop us when following you. Just like you continued to guide Joseph and Mary in their steps, you will guide us as well. You are trustworthy. We are your servants. Let your will be done in our lives.
In Jesus name, amen.
