April 27, 2023 - Psalms 119:33-35
“Teach me your decrees, O Lord; I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.” Psalms 119:33-35 NLT
Lord, we want to learn your ways. Come and teach them to us. Burn them into our hearts and minds. Give us your understanding. As we read your Word, help us see past the actual words and understand the true meaning. Give us your revelations. Help us not just see things at face value but lead us to understand the context they were written in. Guard us from misunderstandings or misinterpretations. Reveal to us any place we are twisting your Word to fit our desires or beliefs instead of lining our lives up to what you intended. Help us desire to obey what you ask of us regardless of the cost to us. Teach us how to walk in your ways and bring you glory and honor in all we do.
Lord, we praise you for how your kingdom works. When we surrender our lives to your Lordship, we actually gain our freedom. When we lay down our dreams and desires, you take us down a path that fulfills us more than anything we would have dreamed. When we put aside the worldly things with their empty promises of joy and choose to follow your road less traveled, we find true peace and happiness. Your kingdom ways are amazing, and we want to walk in them all the days of our lives. Open our eyes and reveal to us you and your ways. Reveal to us the places in our hearts that we need to work on aligning. Help us desire you more than anything else. Help us refuse our own desires and choose you first. For you and your kingdom ways are worth anything we will sacrifice. We will live our lives for your glory and not our own. All for your glory, our Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
