April 25, 2024 - Psalms 12:5-7a
“The Lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.” The Lord’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over. Therefore, Lord, we know you will protect the oppressed,” Psalms 12:5-7a NLT
Lord, we praise you for your amazing promises to us. We are blown away at how you love us humans. We don’t deserve your love. We don’t deserve the many gifts you pour out over us. We don’t deserve your faithfulness to us. Oh, Lord, we thank you that you don’t give us what we deserve. We praise you that you came and gave your life for us so that we could be made whole and restored to you. You love us so wholly. We love that your promises are beautiful and pure. We can stand securely on them trusting that you will do what you say you will do. We praise you for this, our Lord.
Lord, this verse promises that you see the oppressed, the hopeless, and the poor. You hear their groans. You see the tears they cry. You hear the longings deep within them. They are not forgotten and certainly not alone. You have promised that you will rescue them. Lord, you have told us that we are your hands and feet. You have sent us out to do your work. We can see here that your desire is to help and protect those in need of help. We are how you want to do that. Help us to walk in obedience to that. So often we want to wait for the writing on the wall. We want to have a direct word that tells us to do this, but Lord, you already told us. You have called all of us to take your light to the dark places and share your love with the lost and the lonely. Help us see people with your eyes and reach out and touch them with your hands. Lord, help us make your promise become a reality through our actions. Here we are. Use us, Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
