“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 ESV
Lord, faith is one of those things that is nice to talk about and say that you have, but it is something that is hard to live out. Help us learn to live a life of faith in you. Jesus, you obviously had great faith when you walked on earth. We saw you doing all kinds of impossible things, such as walking on water, raising the dead, healing the sick, commanding the weather. When we look at your life, we see evidence of how well you knew the Father. You would find time to spend in his presence regularly. You said you only do the things that were the Father’s will. That still required faith, but when we deeply know someone, it takes less faith to trust them, than if we are around someone we barely know. Jesus, you had confidence and assurance in the Father, what he was capable of doing, and what he wanted. You could step out and believe for great things because of how well you knew Him.
Father, we want to know you. Draw us deeper into you. Guide us step by step into a greater knowledge of you. Grow our faith. Teach us how to be confident and assured in our faith. Help us to believe you for the impossible. Help us know that you can use us to do even greater things than Jesus did, for He said we would. We put our faith in you and declare it so.
In Jesus name, amen.
