April 2, 2025 - Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalms 91:1-2 NLT

Lord, you alone are truly our place of refuge and safety. There is no place safer than by your side. We like to think that if we can keep control of life around us that we will be good and safe. Oh, that is so far from the truth. There is nothing that we can truly, fully control. You on the other hand have total authority. Nothing surprises or frightens you. You rule over everything. When we surrender control to you and draw close to you, you take control. We are your greatest treasure. We never have to worry that you are going to forget us. That doesn’t mean nothing bad will ever happen, but even when bad stuff happens, you are with us, drawing us closer, bringing healing, and transforming us from the crawling caterpillar to the beautiful butterfly in flight.

Holy Spirit, teach us how to live in the shadow of the Almighty. We want to be sheltered right by his side. We want to be close enough to hear his heartbeat and feel his breath. Show us how to press in close. Help us rid our lives of anything that pulls us away from the safety of residing in his shadow. We want to remain close and find the rest and peace of that place. We praise you for being such an amazing and loving God. We can fully trust you to be our safe place. You are so good. Hallelujah.

In Jesus name, amen.
